School to Work Transition Support Program
Creating Confident Futures - 2026 Program Update
The School to Work Transitions (S2WT) Program supports students as they explore career opportunities, build confidence, and prepare for life after high school.
Thanks to the Queensland Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET), funding allows the students to access workplace visits, industry guest speakers, hands-on workshops, and work experience opportunities, where students gain valuable insights into different career pathways and the education and training options available to them.
This years program has already had a positive impact, with students becoming more engaged, confident, and informed about their futures. Workplace tours have introduced students to a range of industries, while guest speakers and CQUniversity workshops have helped them better understand the steps needed to achieve their career goals.
A key feature of the program is its focus on practical, real-world learning. Work experience placements allow students to apply their skills in a workplace, build confidence, develop employability skills, and gain firsthand experience of the expectations of different industries. These opportunities also help students make informed decisions about future careers while strengthening their readiness for employment.
With upcoming White Card and First Aid training, alongside continued workplace learning, students will leave the program with valuable skills, recognised qualifications, and greater confidence to transition into further education, training, or employment.
By combining real-world experiences with personalised support, the S2WT Program empowers students to make informed decisions about their future and confidently take the next step towards meaningful careers.
Students who were initially uncertain about their future, or hesitant to participate, are now actively exploring career options, asking questions, and identifying pathways that align with their interests.
